FWIW: I would classify this as a very difficult VH+.

Code:
 +-----------------------+
 | . . . | 1 4 . | 7 9 . |
 | . . 7 | 5 . . | . . . |
 | . 6 3 | . . . | 5 . 1 |
 |-------+-------+-------|
 | 3 8 . | . . 4 | 9 1 . |
 | 4 . . | . 7 . | . . . |
 | . . . | 3 . 5 | 4 . . |
 |-------+-------+-------|
 | 5 . 8 | 7 . 9 | . . . |
 | 6 . . | 4 . . | . . 5 |
 | . . 4 | . . . | . 8 . |
 +-----------------------+

I could easily have made a mistake, but I presume Danny or someone else will let me know if I need to do this one again.

Marty, congratulations on your solution. Your first step circumvented my VH+ steps, but that's perfectly okay with me. I wasn't happy with it being classified as a VH+ puzzle anyway.

Well, I never got around to looking for the magic step that Marty found and, taking them as I found them, ended up with a seven step BBDBer.

Type 1 UR36 r12c69; r2c9<>36,
AUR27 r69c12 with x-wing 7; r69c2<>2
ANP(36=2)r1c9|r2c8 - (2=6)r6c8 - r56c9 = r1c9; r2c7<>6,
AUR19 r68c23 with x-wing 9; r6c2<>1
ANP(13=2)r7c25 - (2=1)r5c2 - r5c6 = r6c5 - (1=3)r7c5; r7c78<>3
ANP(28=6)r25c7 - (6=2)r6c8 - r6c1 = r9c1 - r7c2 = (2)r7c8; r89c7<>2
ER1 with hinge in box 5 & SL r7c25; r5c2<>1

Ted
