I used overlapping hidden URs, one eliminates the other so do both at once. |

Tough puzzle! I'm still exploring 'almost' moves - so you'll have to allow me one more 'almost xy-chain' that makes it a two step! (I'll stop after this I promise )
Quote: | xy-wing(789) r4c7; r5c2<>8
"almost" xy-chain depending on (2)r4c6, (8=1)r8c2-(1=2)r8c5-(2=5)r8c6-(5)r4c6=xychain[(6=2)r4c6-(2=8)r6c5-(8=6)r9c5]-(6=8)r7c6; r7c2<>8 | ... or you can do this as a wxyz-wing first. Apologies if notation is wrong, tried to follow luke451 re-write of my last one! |

Another two stepper.......
Quote: | m-wing 79 with pseudocell (79)r5c29; r4c3<>9
ANP(68=3)r79c8 - (3=7)r7c4 - (7=1)r7c5 - (1=2)r8c5 - (2=8)r6c5; r6c8<>8 |

After basics and the following steps ...
Code: | c37r4 Skyscraper <> 9 r7c8,r8c2
r69 X-Wing <> 8 r4c5,r4578c8
<79+8> XY-Wing r4c7/r4c3+r5c9 <> 8 r5c2 complementary
<78+9> XY-Wing r5c9/r4c7+r5c2 <> 9 r4c3,r5c8
<18+2> XY-Wing r5c6/r1c6+r6c5 <> 2 r4c6
|
... this grid remains
Code: | <29> UR r46c48 => r4c4=5|7 and/or r6c8=8
r4c4=5|7 => r4c4<>29
r6c8=8 r6c5=2 r6c4=9 => r4c4<>29
+--------------------------------------------------------------+
| 8 6 7 | 12 5 12 | 3 4 9 |
| 2 3 4 | 8 9 7 | 6 1 5 |
| 9 5 1 | 6 4 3 | 8 7 2 |
|--------------------+--------------------+--------------------|
| 1 4 8 | 29+57 267 56 | 79 29 3 |

| 4 18 6 | 235 12 25 | 79 39 78 |

After basics with an xy-wing and an x-wing there are 2 overlapped hidden- URs.
This on 29s;
Code: | .------------------.------------------.------------------.
| 8 6 7 | 12 5 12 | 3 4 9 |
| 2 3 4 | 8 9 7 | 6 1 5 |
| 9 5 1 | 6 4 3 | 8 7 2 |
:------------------+------------------+------------------:
| 1 4 8 |*2579 267 256 | 79 *9-2 3 |
| 6 9 2 | 17 3 18 | 4 5 78 |
| 3 7 5 |*29 28 4 | 1 *289 6 |
:------------------+------------------+------------------:
| 5 18 9 | 37 17 68 | 2 36 4 |
| 4 18 6 | 235 12 25 | 79 39 78 |
| 7 2 3 | 4 68 9 | 5 68 1 |
'------------------'------------------'------------------'
|
And this on 25s;
Code: | .------------------.------------------.------------------.
| 8 6 7 | 12 5 12 | 3 4 9 |
| 2 3 4 | 8 9 7 | 6 1 5 |
| 9 5 1 | 6 4 3 | 8 7 2 |
:------------------+------------------+------------------:
| 1 4 8 |*579-2 267 *256 | 79 29 3 |
| 6 9 2 | 17 3 18 | 4 5 78 |
| 3 7 5 | 29 28 4 | 1 289 6 |
:------------------+------------------+------------------:
| 5 18 9 | 37 17 68 | 2 36 4 |
| 4 18 6 |*235 12 *25 | 79 39 78 |
| 7 2 3 | 4 68 9 | 5 68 1 |
'------------------'------------------'------------------' |
If you take both eliminations the puzzle is solved.

I missed the URs so it was a BBDB and I used seven steps, ending with an XY-Wing (128), flightless with pincer transport. |
