I have not yet tried this, but my solver suggests it is in the "don't bother" category. Code: | Puzzle: FP073010
+-------+-------+-------+
| . . . | . 6 . | 8 . . |
| . 7 . | 5 . . | . 2 . |
| 5 . 6 | 8 . . | . . 9 |
+-------+-------+-------+
| . . 1 | . . 5 | . 8 . |
| . . 3 | . . . | 9 . . |
| . . . | 6 2 . | 3 . . |
+-------+-------+-------+
| 6 . . | . . 7 | 1 . 2 |
| . 3 . | . . 6 | . 7 . |
| . . 5 | . 1 . | . . . |
+-------+-------+-------+

My solver says: be prepared to use 3x grouped strong links! |

Here's what Sudoku Susser says:
2 x Nishio
13 x Comprehensive Forcing Chains
1 x Simple Forcing Chains
1 x Unique Rectangles and Loops
Nishio is a fancy word for guessing. Comprehensive chains are generally not something that humans would recognize.
Danny, if you think there is some way a human might make much progress, I'd like to hear it.

Here is the shortest chain that my solver found that cracks this puzzle in one step. All of the other chains that crack the puzzle also use the 3x grouped strong links on <3> as well.
(8)r8c5 = (8-7)r5c5 = (7-3)r4c5 = r23c5 - r123c6 = (3)r9c6 => r9c6<>8
Nothing less complex made any headway.
Regards, Danny

One stepper, an ALS-xz involving 7 cells.
Quote: |
ALS-xz: sets A={r4c4,r5c6,r6c6}={3489}, B={r7c4,r8c4,r9c4,r8c5}={23489}, x=3, z=8 => r5c5,r9c6<>8 |
[edit; Deleted a superfluous opening step.] |
