... and used gsf's solver to make a harder puzzle with fewer clues.

The same 3 elimination in r7c5 as my last solution was my goal - but I couldn't find a way to do it! Played the same move as Ted, though for me I found it as an xy-chain..

There are several ways to remove more.

Code:
. 9 .|. 1 .|. 8 .
5 . 1|8 . .|3 . .
. 3 .|. 4 5|2 . .
-----+-----+-----
. 5 .|. . .|. . 1
8 4 9|. . .|. . .
. . 3|4 . .|. . 8
-----+-----+-----
. 1 5|2 . .|. . 7
. . .|. . .|. . .
2 . 7|. . 1|4 . 3

I don't like this puzzle now but it does have Kraken and Frank'n Fish!

Yes, gsf's solver listed 46 reductions on the original puzzle. I tried to select three with varying (and reasonable) solutions. Unlike this puzzle:

Code:
 +-----------------------+
 | . 9 . | . 1 . | . . . |
 | 5 . 1 | 8 . . | 3 . . |
 | . 3 . | . 4 5 | 2 . . |
 |-------+-------+-------|
 | . 5 . | . . 8 | 9 . 1 |
 | . 4 . | . . . | . . . |
 | . . 3 | 4 . . | . . 8 |
 |-------+-------+-------|
 | . 1 5 | 2 . . | . . 7 |
 | . . . | . . . | . . . |
 | 2 . 7 | . . . | 4 . 3 |
 +-----------------------+

Weirdly, it has a relatively straightforward one stepper!
Code:
ANP(56) (7=56)r1c79 - (6=2)r1c3 - (2=7)r2c2 ; r2c8<>7
singles

This move was present as an ANT(568) in Danny's original puzzle but it only made a mild dent in it...

Unlike this puzzle:

I am sucker for this stuff, so for what it's worth ... though it's interesting how there are echos of previous puzzles

The first step is what's left of the ALS in r1c789
Code:
ANT(568) (7=568)r1c789 - (6=247)r1c13|r2c2 - (7)r3c1=r3c4 ; r1c46<>7
The next three sort of get us back into roughly the territory we were in with the last puzzle
Code:
AIC (7=2)r2c2 - r1c3=(2-3)r1c6=r1c4 - (3=7)r4c4 - (7)r3c4=r3c1 ; r1c1<>7
xyz-wing(78-6) r3c1 ; r1c1<>6
AIC (6=9)r2c8 - r3c9=r8c9 - (9=3)r8c1 - r8c6=r1c6 - (3=6)r1c4 ; r2c56<>6
(A sort of 69-3 xy-wing but with strong links extending each pincer)
Home and dry - same moves as from previous incarnations of this beast - including my ugly lengthy xy
Code:
x-wing(7) ; r4c5<>7
xy-chain (3=2)r4c5 - (2=6)r3c3 - (6=7)r3c1 - (7=2)r6c2 - (2=7)r6c8 - (7=8)r1c8 - (8=9)r7c8 - (9=3)r7c1 ; r7c5<>3
skyscraper(2) ; r2c5<>2, r5c6<>2
xy-wing(26-7) r5c9 ; r5c7<>7

So a BBDB rating I think! For me anyway..
