 Kraken Sashimi X-Wing r16\c34 w/r1c7=1  =>  r5c3<>1

 (1)r1c7 - (12=8)b3q48 - (8=1)r5c8 - (1)r5c3

I believe this is the first time that I've used an ALS in a Kraken fish! However, looking back, I believe that I've missed the opportunity numerous times previously.

Danny,

Very nice move!

Is it also correct to say that instead of the ALS plus the following step, you could have used a xy-wing: (1)r1c8 - (1=1)xy-wing:r2c7|r3c8|r5c8. This notation looks bad but I am trying to understand the concept of using other standard patterns to transport thru the code.

Also, I do not understand the notation you used for the ALS : (12=8)b3q48. I see that the ALS is in box3, but the "q48" part is a mystery to me.

Here is my fun three stepper..............

BUG-Lite+5 (789)r13c367 External SIS: r1c4=8,r3c8=8,r3c1=9; r1c6=9
(8)r1c4-(8=9)r1c6
||
(8)r3c8-r5c8=r5c3-(8=9)als:r236c1-r1c3=(9)r1c6
||
(9)r3c1-r1c3=(9)r1c6
(Still another fun but useless step......)

RP (18)r1c4 => r5c3; r1c3<>1
RP (18)r5c8 => r1c7; r3c8,r4c7<>18

The cells in a box are labeled sequentially by row:

Code:
 +-----------------------+
 | . . . | . . . | 1 2 3 |
 | . . . | . . . | 4 5 6 |
 | . . . | . . . | 7 8 9 |
 |-------+-------+-------|
 | . . . | . . . | . . . |
 | . . . | . . . | . . . |
 | . . . | . . . | . . . |
 |-------+-------+-------|
 | . . . | . . . | . . . |
 | . . . | . . . | . . . |
 | . . . | . . . | . . . |
 +-----------------------+

There's a previous post of mine commenting on this notation. Ronk said that he'd seen it with an "x" instead of a "q".

Regards, Danny

Marty, could you expand on this!? How does (3)r3c6 force (3)r3c5?
