I played four steps for this one - and basics were quite tough too, lots of claiming/pointing

Yes, there are a number of basic steps present.

I've been concerned that numerous basic steps would create a burden. Unfortunately, my puzzle generator is designed to list the most complex puzzle it can create from a solution grid while employing symmetry and a limited number of techniques. Since basics "count" toward the complexity of a puzzle, they are often present.

It doesn't help that I'll sometimes remove the symmetry -- using gsf's solver -- to make a puzzle of limited difficulty more difficult.
