Five moves, including what I think was a Sashimi X-Wing. If it was, it's my first. |

|
|
Hi all,
In solving this puzzle, I used a coloring technique where 2 values of 8 of the same color could see the only 2 remaining candidates for 8 in a square (r7c9, r8c9). If this color were true, it would negate all 8's from the square. Because the square must contain at least one value of 8, this enabled me to eliminate all values of 8 with this color. I was wondering if there was a formal name for this technique?
Regards, and thnx in advance for any info. you can provide,
Lorne |

# 91 eliminations remain
|
... there is a 2-String Kite in r5+c4 that performs r7c1<>8.
Code: | +-----------------------------------+
| . . . | . 8 8 | . . . |
| . 8 . | . . . | . . . |
| . . . | . . . | 8 . . |
|-----------+-----------+-----------|
| . . 8 | 8# . . | . . . |
| 8* . . | . . 8* | . . . |
| . . . | . . . | . 8 . |
|-----------+-----------+-----------|
| -8 . . | 8# 8 . | . . 8 |
| 8 . 8 | . . . | . . 8 |
| . . 8 | . 8 8 | . . . |
+-----------------------------------+
|
This exposes a Multiple Colors move where the Blue cells are eliminated because they see the Pink & Amber cells.
Code: | +-----------------------------------+
| . . . | . 8 8 | . . . |

I always thought it was called a "multi-colour wrap".
I played effectively the same elimination as a "kite with transport" (through block 9) in the original puzzle. |

Which, of course, might be described as basic "Multi-coloring", although your phrase is very descriptive and not subject to misinterpretation. |
