Yes, I forgot to cross-check some of the puzzles (in this puzzle file) for "Wing" moves. _ _ |

One non-fancy and one "kinda" fancy AURs ..........
Type 1 UR(59)r24c89; r2c9<>59=3
AUR(56)r69c45 external sis r5c46=5, r4c6=6; r4c6=6
AUR(56)[(6)r4c6=(5)r5c46]-(5=3)r5c3-(3=6)r4c3-r2c3=(6-3)r1c2=r1c6-(3=6)r4c6;

Ted,
I understand that the AUR is what caught your attention and started your analysis. What bothers me is that the part in green exists w/o the AUR.
AUR(56)[(6)r4c6=(5)r5c46]-(5=3)r5c3-(3=6)r4c3-r2c3=(6-3)r1c2=r1c6-(3=6)r4c6
In fact, all you need is:
(6)r2c3=(6-3)r1c2=r1c6-(3=6)r4c6; r4c3<>6 |

Danny,
As I have done in the past, I posted the actual sequence of steps that I initially found. In reviewing the pattern, I noticed other possibilities and also considered the recent post by Ronk regarding solutions that set a value rather than make a deletion, but again I choose to post my initial result since it reflects the logic used.

Ted, some like to optimise some don't - I get as much fun trying to make my solution more 'optimal' as I do originally solving it. I don't obsess over it for most puzzles (though I do for some of the weekly published ones) and I often set myself a bar on what types of move I am going to explore for a particular puzzle. Each to his own! |
