W-Wing 57 with strong link 5 in col 7 solves it by setting r7c6<>7. |

Also a sashimi X wing on 5 does the trick.
A two stepper ... X wing on 6 followed by a BUG+1 |

For those of us who need a show and tell session:
Code: |
+----------+-----------+---------+
| 5 4 2 | 7 8 6 | 9 3 1 |
| 3 1 7 | 5 9 4 | 8 2 6 |
| 6 9 8 | 2 3 1 | 7 4 5 |
+----------+-----------+---------+
| 4 2 1 | 8 567 57 | 56 9 3 |
| 8 56A 9 | 1 4 3 | 2 B56 7 |
| 7 X35 36 | 9 56* 2 | 1 8 4 |
+----------+-----------+---------+
| 2 8 36 | 36 1 57 | 4 57 9 |
| 9 37Y 4 | 36 57Z 8 | 56 1 2 |
| 1 67D 5 | 4 2 9 | 3 C67 8 |
+----------+-----------+---------+
|
ABCD forces the removal of '6' from X&Y. If A is '6' then C must be '6' and if D is '6' then B must be '6'
XYZ removes the '5' from r6c5.

Another single stepper is a kite in 5 originating from BOX 9 which removes 5 in r4c6. |

The "official" solution is probably an X-wing on 6 followed by an XY-wing.
Or, there is a different XY-wing available before the X-wing.
After basics: Code: | +----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 5 4 2 | 7 8 6 | 9 3 1 |
| 3 1 7 | 5 9 4 | 8 2 6 |
| 69 69 8 | 2 3 1 | 7 4 5 |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 4 2 1 | 8 567 57 | 56 9 3 |
| 8 56 9 | 1 4 3 | 2 56 7 |
| 67 3567 36 | 9 56 2 | 1 8 4 |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 2 8 36 | 36 1 57 | 4 57 9 |
| 679 3679 4 | 36 57 8 | 56 1 2 |
| 1 67 5 | 4 2 9 | 3 67 8 |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+ | Keith

Skyscraper on 5 seems simplest single stepper. |

as well as the X wing followed by bug+1 or XY wing or the single step W wing on 57 or the skyscaper in 5, there is an ER on 5s that denies a 5 at r4c7(just like the skyscraper) 'cos the strongly linked 5s in row8 would kill all the 5s in Box5 |
