A rather long xy-chain with a "twist" undoes it...
Quote: | (2=3)r1c3 - (3=9)r1c4 - BUG-Lite(35-23-25)r258c46[(9)r2c4=(4)r8c4] - (4=2)r9c4 - (2=5)r8c6 - (5=3)r2c6 - (3=2)r2c8 ; r1c9<>2, r2c13<>2
Another way of thinking of it is as an almost-w-wing(23) where the strong link in the DP makes the fin cover the same eliminations |

Potential 35-23-25 DP in boxes 258. Either r2c4=9 or r8c4=4. Common outcome, r6c8=3. |

This puzzle was about grouped strong links!
Code: | after basics
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------+
| 8 5 23 | 39 6 7 | 1 4 239 |
| 1239 7 123 | 359 4 35 | 8 23 6 |
| 349 349 6 | 1 2 8 | 5 7 39 |
|-----------------------+-----------------------+-----------------------|
| 123 123 9 | 7 5 4 | 6 8 23 |
| 6 8 7 | 23 1 23 | 4 9 5 |
| 5 234 234 | 6 8 9 | 7 23 1 |
|-----------------------+-----------------------+-----------------------|
| 7 23 5 | 8 9 1 | 23 6 4 |
| 24 6 8 | 245 3 25 | 9 1 7 |
| 12349 12349 1234 | 24 7 6 | 23 5 8 |
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------+
# 49 eliminations remain
M-Wing 6A: (3=9)r3c9 - r1c9 = (9-3)r1c4 = (3)r2c46 => r2c8<>3
M-Wing 7B: (3=9)r1c4 - r1c9 = (9-3)r3c9 = (3)r3c12 => r1c3<>3
W-Wing: (2=3)r1c3 - r3c12 = r3c9 - (3=2)r4c9 => r1c9<>2
W-Wing: (2=3)r1c3 - r3c12 = r3c9 - (3=2)r2c8 => r1c9,r2c13<>2
W-Wing: (2=3)r1c3 - r1c4 = r2c46 - (3=2)r2c8 => r1c9,r2c13<>2

I initially spotted the "almost Bug-Lite"(235)r258c6, but made a second pass when I noticed that Marty had already posted the same solution.
How about a w-wing(23)r1c3|r4c9 with grouped SL(3)r3c129; r1c9<>2
Ted
[Edit: I started the puzzle yesterday prior to Danny's post, and did not check today to see if additional posts had been made. My solution is included in the list of grouped strong link provided by Danny.] |
