After basics:
Code:
+----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 8    36   367  | 1    2    467  | 46   5    9    |
| 4    1    2    | 5   B68   9    | 3    7   b68   |
| 9    5    67   | 3    4678 4678 | 146  2    1468 |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 567  4    1    | 9   a367  2    | 8    36   567  |
| 2   3-68 35-6  | 78   1   A678  | 9    346 45-67 |
|c67   38   9    | 4    38   5    | 2    1   C67   |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 56   2    568  | 78   478  3    | 1456 9    146  |
| 3    9    4    | 6    5    1    | 7    8    2    |
| 1    7    568  | 2    9    48   | 456  46   3    |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+

Coloring on 6: Ab and Ac are pincers on 6. (A tri-tower skyscraper!)

(Edit: For extra credit, identify the quad-tower that make one more not very useful elimination.)

Then, a Type 4 UR 16 takes out a couple of 6s, and an XY-wing 4-68 kills a couple more. Getting to here:
Code:
+-------------+-------------+-------------+
| 8   6   3   | 1   2   7   | 4   5   9   |
| 4   1   2   | 5  6-8  9   | 3   7   68  |
| 9   5   7   | 3  46+8 48  | 16  2   18  |
+-------------+-------------+-------------+
| 67  4   1   | 9   37  2   | 8   36  5   |
| 2   38  5   | 78  1   6   | 9   34  47  |
| 67  38  9   | 4  3-8  5   | 2   1   67  |
+-------------+-------------+-------------+
| 5   2   68  | 78 47+8 3   | 16  9   14  |
| 3   9   4   | 6   5   1   | 7   8   2   |
| 1   7   68  | 2   9   48  | 5   46  3   |
+-------------+-------------+-------------+
Bug+2: R37C5 are pincers on 8.

Not the tools I use every day! Wink

Well, if I'm allowed to "remember" the eliminations in r5c23, then r4c1 becomes C and we have Ca in [r4] for r4c89<>6. Exposing a Naked Single, r4c8=3. Leaving a Swordfish and an XY-Wing to crack the puzzle.

I was thinking of dD, so Ad are pincers on 6 in R1C6:
Code:
+----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 8   d36   367  | 1    2   4-67  | 46   5    9    |
| 4    1    2    | 5   B68   9    | 3    7   b68   |
| 9    5    67   | 3    4678 4678 | 146  2    1468 |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 567  4    1    | 9   a367  2    | 8    36   567  |
| 2  D3-68 35-6  | 78   1   A678  | 9    346 45-67 |
|c67   38   9    | 4    38   5    | 2    1   C67   |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 56   2    568  | 78   478  3    | 1456 9    146  |
| 3    9    4    | 6    5    1    | 7    8    2    |
| 1    7    568  | 2    9    48   | 456  46   3    |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+

Danny,

I don't think this is correct. I don't think aC are pincers.

You are correct!

I've been deep into playing with Exocet logic and just came up for air long enough to take a quick look at this grid. I messed up on tracking SIs and just used the color difference for my conclusion. Mea Culpa!!!

Skyscraper (6), r26, with transport; r1c6<>6, with another transport; r5c2<>6

XY-Wing (486), pivot r9c6; r5c8<>6, plus transport; r3c6<>6

Five-cell XY-Chain from r9c6 to r5c4; r7c4<>8, played as an alternative to the UR

A two step solution:
Code:
r2c5=6 -> r5c6=6 ->
r2c9=6 -> r6c1=6 -> r5c23<>6

|------------|--------------|--------------|
| 8   6   3  | 1   2    7   | 4   5    9   |
| 4   1   2  | 5   68   9   | 3   7    68  |
| 9   5   7  | 3   468  468 | 16  2    168 |
|------------|--------------|--------------|
| 67  4   1  | 9   367  2   | 8   36   5   |
| 2   38  5  | 78  1    68  | 9   346  467 |
| 67  38  9  | 4   38   5   | 2   1    67  |
|------------|--------------|--------------|
| 5   2   68 | 78  478  3   | 16  9    146 |
| 3   9   4  | 6   5    1   | 7   8    2   |
| 1   7   68 | 2   9    48  | 5   46   3   |
|------------|--------------|--------------|

r7c4=7 -> r5c4<>7 -> r5c9=7
r7c5=7 -> r7c9=4 -> r5c9<>4

It is also possible to show that
Code:
r9c8=4 -> r1<>7
