I am lost. So what is a "irreducible BUG"? I believe I understand the two terms "irreducible" and "BUG" but the combination is over my head.
I previously found, but did not post, an AUR(34)r57c78 that results in r7c8<>3 which then sets up a BUG+2 to complete the puzzle. However, that does not help me to understand the "irreducible BUG" solution.

By definition a BUG is irreducible, so "irreducible BUG" is merely redundant. |

And "merely" is redundant?

xy-wing
(4=8)r4c8-(82=7)r9c18-(7=4)r5c1 => -4r4c1,r5c78; stte
either r4c8=4 or r5c1=4
|
To me b is a 87 pseudo cell
making this an 48-87-74 xy-wing |

You mean a bit like M-ring loop ?...
The point however being this : a grid with only bivalues may yet be reducible so is not yet BUG. Therefore to underline the importance of this distinction, reducible BUG, if pleonastic, seemed useful. |
