I stared at this longer than any sane person should and couldn't make a dent. Finally I threw in the towel and solved it with four moves. |

Marty,
You have an unjustified opinion of the sanity of those who frequent these pages!

Hey Marty! You can't leave us hanging like that! What were your four moves? I'm guessing that they were some sort of forcing chains (maybe?) Thanks, Don. |

Don,
No forcing chains (I don't use them). I've since thrown out the piece of paper, but as I recall there were three XY-Wings and perhaps coloring or XY-Chain. |

Two XY wings? Hey Marty, are you sure you're not confusing this puzzle with the other one that Keith posted the same day titled 'From a book'? I think I was able to use the four steps that you described here to solve the other one (I think) - but not this one. I might be wrong. I looked at both of them for a long time - but I wasn't able to solve either! (ugh.) Hey Keith, you have to be more careful. You almost made my head explode! |

Don, I since found the puzzle and it was two XY-Wings, coloring and an XY-Chain. I didn't do the one from the book. |

Wow! I didn't see any of those in this puzzle! I guess I shouldn't be too surprised though. I think I'm sort of getting the hang of coloring but it's practically impossible for me to find those XY chains (even if someone tells me they're there)! |
