I was stuck for a while until I eliminated a couple more 7s to show a (twin)
xy wing 347 in rows 3 & 7 and columns 5 & 8
(The time of posting of this message seems to be before the day's puzzle should have appeared. But think about the time zone I'm in!) |

Robert,
Some years ago, when we learned how to get a puzzle early, some guys would post them three days early and we had to ask that puzzles not be posted until the puzzle date. No problem with you posting it when you see it, we know where you live. |

| Just as an interesting side note, the 89 UR that Hugh referred to in boxes 1 and 7 opens up a 37 UR in boxes 7 and 9 which solves it but, like Hugh, I'd never think of using a UR (let alone two) to solve a puzzle from this site! One other thing I found interesting was that starting with Hugh's diagram, the 89 UR tells us that r9c1 is 3 or 7 but the 38 UR in boxes 4 and 7 tell us that r9c1 is 7 or 9, therefore r9c1 is 7 (but that doesn't solve it either). |
