I know many of you boys can’t wait for the next VH, but that’s not me.
I've just finished with today’s H, and I have to say I still love a good H one. Sure the VH are stimulating and fun, if you just want a quickie climaxing in an XY. That’s a good mental release.
But for me, I like the long, slow intimacy I get with an H. I like to start with digit one, and slowly work my way up. After I play four, I'm already too far in to stop - I have to finish. And pairs, I just love them all. Hidden ones are exciting but there’s nothing gets me going faster than seeing naked pairs. I never get tired of that. Locked candidates? I'm your man!
My wife feels the same way. She really doesn’t like VH that much at all, but if we have a nice H, she’s happy to play with me, as long as we solve it within 4 hours.
We love this site. We pray for the H's to keep coming for a long time. |

rm,
If you'd like to get a Hard on every day try Helmut's site:
http://www.saueregger.at/sudoku/
Use the arrows on the left and right to scroll through the day's puzzles. Click on the puzzle to print it or to send it to Draw/Play.
I think that Helmut's puzzles are more interesting in the way you describe. They are not the one-trick ponies that this site's VH usually are.
Keith
PS: I won't make the remark about naked triples. |

You enjoyed today's H? Holy crow! What was 'hard' about that? I didn't see anything that I would consider hard. It wasn't that obvious triple that made it qualify as a hard, was it? (ugh.) Give me a VH any day! |

Keith, maybe he could try V-agra rather than Helmut's site.
(Sam's filter doesn't like the full name of that medication) |

don,
I enjoyed the puzzle, which I did without pencil marks, as is my wont. I did not see a triple. The key seemed to be placing 9 in B9.
To each his own. What do you care that others like different puzzles than you do?

Oh! That's right! The H didn't even have a triple, did it? I confused the H that day with a VH that I did from the archive (because I finished the H with so much time still on my lunch hour). I do that all the time. I don't really care what others enjoy Keith! Ireland was expressing his opinion (and saying how he didn't like VHs) so I thought I'd express mine! Don. |

| after some "hidden singles",
it takes just 1 move:
b8 "hidden" duo {1,4}
==> b8 7
OR: b8 "naked" duo ={6,9}
solves r9c4 the latter may be considered a Locked Pair?
