We know from the hints where the 7 goes in the 1st column. But what we DON'T know is WHY?????
Is there a way to solve the squiggly puzzles using the same methods as the regular ones (ie: x-wing, swordfish, etc)??
Thanks!

The 7s in rows 1 and 2 can only go in boxes 1 and 3. So the 7 in box 1 does not lie in the first column. The only place left for 7 in that column is in row 5.
X-wings and other advanced techniques apply to both squiggly and classical puzzles.

Wow...I still don't get it! I have the "7" possibilities as follows:
r1 c2 c8
r2 c4 c7 c8
r3 c1 c2 c7 c8
r4 given
r5 c1 c2 c7 c8
r6 given
r7 c4 c7
r8 c7 c8 c9
I just can't see how you're able to isolate the 7 in row 5, and I'm afraid your explanation confused me more? :?
Help??

I didn't know at first what you meant by 1st and 3rd BOX. We call them 'quadrants'...even though the squiggles aren't shaped like quadrants.
I get it now....THANK YOU!!!! Just didn't see it the first ZILLION times.
