I simply roared with laughter for quite a bit when I saw the subject.
For making me laugh (so hard) and for making my day, it merited a reply.

cheers....immp

If you're suffering puzzle withdrawal, go to Helmut's site:

http://www.saueregger.at/sudoku/

Spend a few minutes to learn how to navigate. The left and right arrows scroll to different levels of difficulty. The calendar icon scrolls to previous days. His puzzles are much more interesting, in my opinion.

Thanks for the suggestion Keith! I did today's VH on that site and I wanted to warn everyone that VH's on that site look like they cannot necessarily be solved using just standard wings like this site.

Yes,

Helmut's puzzles are more nuanced. They include things like Unique Rectangles and even Wings with transport, Marty's favorite technique.

You can always click on the "First Aid" button to go to Helmut's Sudoku Helper, which will show you next possible steps.

Again, this takes some thought. Helmut does not show you only the simplest next possible step.

In the advanced puzzles he gets into W- and M-wings. Great stuff.

If you spend a little time understanding what his "Nataraj diagrams" are telling you, you will make a great leap forward in solving extremely hard Sudokus.

Wait a minute Keith! I never heard of an M-Wing! Are you making that up? (As a matter of fact I saw one site that said you DID make it up!) Okay, okay,
now I'm curious. Come on Keith. Tell us what an M-Wing is! (Did I see a mention of 5 strong links somewhere?) If they look to complicated I might continue to search for forcing chains instead. Thanks!
