If you look at the above grid in box 1,2 and 7 you see three cells 48-58-45 which looks like an XY but is not!
But, if r1c1=4, r9c1=5, r7c6=5, r2c6=8 leads to no 8's in row 1 |

Yes - a contradiction. When you plug the 4 into r1c1 the loop tells you it doesn't belong there.
4r1c1-(4=5)r9c1-r7c3=r7c6-(5=8)r2c6-(8=9)r2c3-(9=4)r2c2-(4)r1c1 |
