I can see this solution but it's taken me longer to explain:

If x=3, a=7, b=4, c=9, d=1 leads to no <1> in box 6
If x=7, b=4, c=9, d=1 leads to no <1> in box 6

So xz is a <14> pair to solve

Or, if ax = <37> pair then b=4, c=9, d=1, z=4 leads to <78> pair in box 6, so x is not <37> to solve
