I had a tough time with this one immpy!
After basics:
Code: | +---------------+---------------+-----------------+
| 236 26 5 | 4 367 2367 | 8 9 1 |
| 7 9 248 | 5 1 28 | 3 24 6 |
| 2346 2468 1 | 9 368 2368 | 25 2457 247 |
+---------------+---------------+-----------------+
| 8 5 9 | 2 367 367 | 46 1 34 |
| 46 7 34 | 8 5 1 | 9 236 23 |
| 126 126 23 | 36 9 4 | 7 8 5 |
+---------------+---------------+-----------------+
| 9 248 248 | 367 3468 5 | 1 23467 23478 |
| 5 148 7 | 136 2 368 | 46 346 9 |
| 124 3 6 | 17 48 9 | 25 2457 2478 |
+---------------+---------------+-----------------+
|
Then I couldn't find a one-stepper so I ended up settling for 3 steps. The 1st assumed that r9c4 = 1 and hit a contradiction, the 2nd assumed that r2c3 <> 8 and hit a contradiction, and the 3rd assumed that r5c3 = 3 and also hit a contradiction. |

So that's it? No one else is going to post a solution for this one? If that's the case, then I guess this really was a VH++! (Ugh!) |

I used a chain of 8s anchored at r2c3 & r8c2 which removes 8s from r3c2 & r7c3. The later gives an 8 at r2c3 by virtue of column 3.
That led to a contradiction of 4s in box 7. That filled out most of the puzzle.
Used an xy-wing to complete. |
