I have really hit a snag with this puzzle. Anybody out there who has a clue and would like to share it? I'll try to type a "picture" of where I am -- sure wish I could paste a word document in here.
- a b - - - - - - - - 6
- c - - - 2 - b - - 3 a
- - - - 3 6 7 a 4 - b c
7 5 - - - - 6 4 3 2 - 9
- 6 3 2 7 - - - b 4 5 8
4 b - - - 3 - - - 6 c 7
1 9 7 - - - b - - - 4 3
6 4 - b - 7 3 9 5 c - -
- - 5 - 8 - - - - - 7 b
b 1 - 5 - 9 c 2 7 3 - 4
a 7 - - 5 - 8 3 - - 6 -
- - - - - - - 7 - - 9 5
I admit... I'm puzzled.

Hi, Charlie!
Only two cells in row 8 can take an 8: they lie in columns3 and 11. Precisely the same applies to row 10. This eliminates the 8s from column 3 of box 4.
As a result, the 8 belonging to that box occupies column 4 and the 8 in box 7….
Good hunting

Thanks, Steve!
Sometimes I just look at these puzzles too long. I probably looked at those 8s a dozen times... a dozen times while my mind slept! Thanks again.
