A lousy Friday puzzle!! So easy a caveman could do it!! But Marty couldn't. I used the Type 1 on 18, but that's all I could see. No X, XY or XYZ. Also tried some simple coloring and noted the two almost rectangles involving the 27 pair, but I can't see anything other than resorting to chains.
Code: |
+--------------+------------+----------------+
| 6 3 4 | 259 8 29 | 125 257 127 |
| 18 18 9 | 25 4 7 | 3 256 26 |
| 57 2 57 | 6 1 3 | 8 4 9 |
+--------------+------------+----------------+
| 3 9 1278 | 18 27 5 | 4 267 1267 |
| 4 56 127 | 19 3 69 | 1259 2579 8 |
| 278 56 1278 | 4 27 689 | 1259 3 127 |

| 2589 7 258 | 28 6 4 | 29 1 3 |
| 29 18 3 | 7 5 18 | 6 29 4 |

Marty,
There is a quad in R6. It stumped me too.
This is the first non-Saturday puzzle that requires more than the basics. If you don't use the UR, it seems to require a chain.
There is another UR reduction: You can take out <2> in R4C8. The UR on <26> is also an X--wing on <6>.
