I got this far:
X-3 9-- 87-
89- --- -6-
4-- --8 -59
6-- 2-- 983
31- -9- 62-
92- --6 -15
54- 183 -96
-36 --9 -48
-89 --4 53-
The hint was a 2 where I have an X
I don't understand the logic, can someone help me? |

Look at the first column, bottom two spaces (c1r8, c1r9) In that 3x3 box, the 1's must be in either c1r8 or c1r9. Since a 1 must be in either of those two boxes, there cannot be a 1 in c1r1, otherwise there would be two 1's in the first column. You can now eliminate from c1r1 every number but a 2.
Good luck with the rest! |

I'm assuming you have no problems in reaching the stage in solving the puzzle as shown in lolumen's posting. Consider Box Nr 7 ( r7c1 - r9c3 ).
The Nr 1 can not appear in r7c3 because it is already in r7c4. Therefore, Nr 1 MUST be in either r8c1 or r9c1 in order to satisfy Box Nr 7.
Therefore, we are now considering Column 1. The only possibilities for r1c1 are Nrs 1 and 2. However, since Nr 1 must be in either r8c1 or r9c1, we can delete it from r1c1 leaving Nr 2 as the only possibility.
Cheers. |
