We have complaints that some "Very Hard" puzzles are too easy. How about this "Easy"?
Code: | . . . | . . 1 | . 7 .
. . 6 | . . . | 4 . .
5 . . | . . . | . . .
-------+-------+-------
8 1 . | . . . | . 3 .
. . . | 4 6 . | . . .
. . . | . 2 . | . . .
-------+-------+-------
. . 4 | . . . | 9 . 2
3 7 . | 8 . . | . . .
. 9 . | . . . | . . . |
(With thanks to JPF)

Interesting puzzle. Because of the way I do my pencil markings, it wasn't especially difficult. But, I did notice that it has some conspicuously unusual properties (which I won't mention so as not to spoil it for others). Took me about 7 minutes, which is long for "Easy."
Thanks for posting it. |

I got interested in this when Asellus, another "pencil" guy, said he did it in 7 minutes. Although I found it harder than an Easy (in fact, some of Sam's VHs take me less time), it was mostly just tedious with nothing more than basic moves. But then I am very deliberate when solving puzzles so that you smart & fast guys would probably die from boredom if you watched me.

It took me a LOT longer than seven minutes, because I decided if it was easy it should be done without pencil marks. Eventually I was stumped and had to resort to pm's to find the pair in R2.

Yes, you need to do some pencil marking on this one. The trick is not to do too much pencil marking: only make marks that have some immediate potential value so that things don't get cluttered up. With too many marks, it would be a tedious puzzle indeed. |

I was away for a few days and coming back couldn't resist this one.
I must say it took me about half an hour. No advanced moves, true. But more satisfying, perhaps, than some of those 'vh' where one fills in almost all the cells easily just to arrive at that obvious xy wing or BUG+1 at the very end... |
