how horrible. no vh since last Sunday.
In the meantime, I came across this one:
Code: |
+-----------+-----------+-----------+
| 9 . . | . . 6 | 8 . . |
| . . . | . . 3 | 4 . . |
| . . . | . 9 . | . 5 . |
+-----------+-----------+-----------+
| 3 7 . | 6 . . | 1 . . |
| 5 . . | . 2 . | . . 6 |
| . . 2 | . . 7 | . 3 4 |
+-----------+-----------+-----------+
| . 8 . | . 1 . | . . . |
| . . 5 | 7 . . | . . . |
| . . 1 | 2 . . | . . 7 |
+-----------+-----------+-----------+
|
from http://www.sudocue.net/olddaily.php?id=703&sol=0 (yes I am still trying to get a grip on those uniqueness patterns )
This is as far as I get with "regular" advanced methods
Code: |
+--------------------------+--------------------------+--------------------------+
| 9 12345 347 | 145 457 6 | 8 127 123 |
| 12678 1256 67 | 158 578 3 | 4 12679 129 |
| 14678 1346 3467 | 148 9 2 | 367 5 13 |
+--------------------------+--------------------------+--------------------------+
| 3 7 89 | 6 45 49 | 1 289 2589 |
| 5 49 489 | 3 2 1 | 79 789 6 |
| 16 16 2 | 589 58 7 | 59 3 4 |
+--------------------------+--------------------------+--------------------------+
| 2467 8 34679 | 49 1 459 | 23569 469 359 |
| 246 23469 5 | 7 36 489 | 2369 14689 1389 |
| 46 3469 1 | 2 36 4589 | 3569 4689 7 |

Using UR (36) in r89c57 I arrive at r5c7=7, which takes me quite some way but the puzzle is not solved yet.
Here ...
Code: | +--------------------------+--------------------------+--------------------------+
| 9 235 34 | 145 457 6 | 8 17 12 |
| 28 25 6 | 158 578 3 | 4 179 129 |
| 78 1 47 | 48 9 2 | 6 5 3 |
+--------------------------+--------------------------+--------------------------+
| 3 7 89 | 6 45 49 | 1 2 589 |
| 5 4 89 | 3 2 1 | 7 89 6 |
| 1 6 2 | 589 58 7 | 59 3 4 |
+--------------------------+--------------------------+--------------------------+
| 27 8 37 | 49 1 459 | 23 6 59 |
| 46 239 5 | 7 36 89 | 239 148 18 |
| 46 39 1 | 2 36 589 | 359 48 7 |
+--------------------------+--------------------------+--------------------------+ |
I found an ER on '9' in box 9 (strong link in row 6), which takes out 9 from r7c4 and finally solved the puzzle.
Thought I let you guys have a go at it while we wait for tomorrow's vh.

Without the UR, there is a (seldom seen in these parts) Sue de Coq in R3 and Box 1 involving {1348} and {67}. It eliminates <3> from R3C7, <6> from R2C12, and <7> from R1C3 and R2C1. After that, the same <9> ER finishes the puzzle.
There is also an interesting finned fish approach in those <9>s that can be used in place of that final ER. There are two different ways to view it:
(1) Finned X-Wing with transported fin: The Finned X-Wing with "useless" fin R6C7 is in C27. The fin can be transported to R7C4 via R6C4.
(2) Finned Jellyfish in R2457 with fin R7C4.
Either way, <9>s are eliminated from R89C6. |
