This is a random Super Hard from Brain Bashers. Needs a little more than this site's Very Hards.

After basics, an empty rectangle in box 9 will eliminate 6 from r3c9 solving the puzzle.

P.S. Don't tell my wife I was here. I was supposed to give up posting today, but she doesn't know about this site. Embarassed

me I'm more into coloring it seems,
an x-wing in 2 (r1c7, r7c7)
one in 5 (r1c7)
and a short chain in 6 (r3c9): -r3c2=r1c3-r9c3=r9c9-

all at the same position:

Code:

+--------------------------+--------------------------+--------------------------+
| 25      4       67       | 3       8       9        | 2567    1       256      |
| 3       8       25       | 1       6       7        | 25      4       9        |
| 17      16      9        | 5       2       4        | 367     8       36       |
+--------------------------+--------------------------+--------------------------+
| 15      9       8        | 2       7       13       | 4       6       35       |
| 4       7       15       | 6       9       13       | 35      2       8        |
| 6       2       3        | 4       5       8        | 9       7       1        |
+--------------------------+--------------------------+--------------------------+
| 127     16      467      | 8       3       5        | 126     9       246      |
| 8       3       12       | 9       4       6        | 12      5       7        |
| 9       5       46       | 7       1       2        | 8       3       46       |
+--------------------------+--------------------------+--------------------------+

Empty rectangles come after that (when I've drawn the diagrams already), but no need for that any more (after the eliminations above, the rest were singles).

P.S. Thanks Keith, for posting a sudoku. Those days without vh, what a drag!

edit: oops, I just realized my chain in 6 duplicates the effect of re'born's ER

There is a <46> UR that takes out a couple if <6>'s in R7. Then, you have this:
Code:
+----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 257  4    2567 | 3    8    9    | 2567 1    256  |
| 3    8    25   | 1    6    7    | 25   4    9    |
| 17   16   9    | 5    2    4    | 367  8    36   |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 15   9    8    | 2    7    13   | 4    6    35   |
| 4    7    15   | 6    9    13   | 35   2    8    |
| 6    2    3    | 4    5    8    | 9    7    1    |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 127  16   1247 | 8    3    5    | 126  9    24   |
| 8    3    12   | 9    4    6    | 12   5    7    |
| 9    5    46   | 7    1    2    | 8    3    46   |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+

There are now two ER's in B9, depending on whether you take the hinge pin cell to be R7C9 or R9C7! They take out <6> in R3C9 and R1C7, respectively. The strong links are in C1 and C3.

Or, you can make the same eliminations by noticing the two crossed skyscrapers (turbot fish) emanating from B7.

Or, you can make the same eliminations with the two finned X-wings in R19C39.

| 9    5    46    | 7     1     2     | 8     3     46    |

after the finns you get the BUG at r3c7

Hee hee.
For myself i decided, that this forum is allowed, cause it doesn't need more than 10 minutes to follow. Of course, yesterday i had the idea to write a little program, that gives me all candidates that can be eliminated, when it looks only at 2,3,...8 boxes (and strong links to the others). Would be interesting. But i will not do it Smile

Excellent rationalization, ravel!
