First choice after basics: xy-wing.
Either left side 41-16-64 or right side 97-76-69. Both lead to the same cells being solved. |

After basic moves, I was done. I didn't seem to need any kind of wing. |

There is also a useless [16-56-15] xy-wing@, when using the two pincer
cells (either R5C1=1, R8C9=1, or both), which pins <4> in R3C1

Yes, I saw the 1-4-7 immediately, but remembered to wait until I could get a copy of the puzzle at that point before I moved on.
Now I'll see if I can spot any ERs on it!

Took me forever to find the <146> x wing - which is why I don't like em. Looked for ERs - never found none. But there's no straight-through basic solution Texcat - you must have erred. |

Johan, did you leave out some words? The two pincers eliminate nothing. But color the pincer from r8c9-->r8c4-->r3c4 and the new pincer in r3c4 combines with the other original pincer in r5c1 to knock out the 1 from r3c1. |

Could be solved by XY-Wing {1,6} as a pivot in r5c1 and {1,4}r3c1 {4,6}r6c2 as pincers removing the 4 in r3c2. |

Marty,
I thought with the two strong links on <1> in R8 and C4, it wasn't too
difficult to spot, extending the R8C9 pincer, but you're right I should have
mentioned that when
R8C9=1, then R8C4=5 and R3C4=1, eliminating <1> in R3C1, |

Johan, you're correct, it's easy to spot if you know the technique. Personally, I just learned about coloring pincers a few months ago; I have to assume there are others reading this forum who might not yet have learned it. |

When I finished the puzzle, I thought I must have done something wrong and then did it again. I must have made the same mistake the second time, because it was just as straightforward. I'll be darned if I can do it now a third time though. |
