There is a quaint finned x-wing of 9's in R57, which removes the 9 from R2C3 and solves the puzzle.

I met neither finned creatures nor remote pairs or bugs but used a skyscraper (cols 1 and 6) to remove 9 from r8c2 in this position and was done.
Code: |
+--------------------------+--------------------------+--------------------------+
| 48 1 48 | 2 7 6 | 3 5 9 |
| 6 79 79 | 3 5 1 | 4 8 2 |
| 3 2 5 | 4 8 9 | 17 6 17 |
+--------------------------+--------------------------+--------------------------+
| 24 8 24 | 9 1 7 | 6 3 5 |
| 7 6 19 | 5 3 4 | 2 19 8 |
| 19 5 3 | 8 6 2 | 19 7 4 |
+--------------------------+--------------------------+--------------------------+
| 129 3 129 | 7 4 5 | 8 19 6 |
| 5 79 6 | 1 2 8 | 79 4 3 |
| 18 4 178 | 6 9 3 | 5 2 17 |

I used a 6-cell xy-chain at the end with pincer ends in R5C3(A) and R6C7(F), that takes out both <1>'s in R6C1 and R5C8.
Code: | +--------------------------+--------------------------+--------------------------+
| 48 1 48 | 2 7 6 | 3 5 9 |
| 6 C 79 B 79 | 3 5 1 | 4 8 2 |
| 3 2 5 | 4 8 9 | 17 6 17 |
+--------------------------+--------------------------+--------------------------+
| 24 8 24 | 9 1 7 | 6 3 5 |
| 7 6 A 19 | 5 3 4 | 2 -[1]9 8 |
|-[1]9 5 3 | 8 6 2 | 19 F 7 4 |
+--------------------------+--------------------------+--------------------------+
| 129 3 129 | 7 4 5 | 8 19 6 |
| 5 D 79 6 | 1 2 8 | 79 E 4 3 |
| 18 4 178 | 6 9 3 | 5 2 17 |

The 19s in R6C1 & R7C8 are 'remote', killing the 1 & 9 in R7C1, just one of sundry ways to do this, as has been stated. |
