In the discussion of another recent puzzle, someone referred to a BUG + 1 "within a square." I am familiar with the BUG +1 in the entire puzzle, ie, all the remaining cells in the puzzle have two digits except one with three. But, how does a BUG + 1 "within a square" work. |

I do not recall the comment. Maybe you should ask the question in the original thread?
I might guess that the comment means the BUG+1 was solved by looking at a 3x3 box. Figure out the deadly pattern (DP), which is when each unsolved candidate appears exactly twice in the box. Then, use the candidate(s) in the +1 cell that destroy the DP.
(Actually, you should also check that the same DP arises when you look at the row and column.)
