While observing what appeared to be a simple Colors elimination, I noticed that five of the six cells were an incomplete Remote Pairs chain. Would the strong link on <5> in [b6] be called an extension or a transport ... or neither?

BTW, there's still plenty of puzzle left to solve after this elimination.

Well, the conjugates certainly extend the chain.

When I introduced the term “transport,” I specifically had in mind the addition of a conjugate pair to a known pattern, thereby shifting the elimination from one house, in which there happened to be no elimination, to another house, in which there was elimination. This is exactly the position in your grid: the remote pair chain runs from r9c5 to r1c8. This chain would eliminate 5 from r1c5 and r9c8. As it turns out, the pattern is ineffectual in this grid. However, adding the conjugates with respect to 5 in box 6 does indeed produce an elimination. This is about as close to what I had in mind as you could get.

I suggest that “transport” is confined to this particular interpretation. There is no particular reason why the term should be used at all but, if it is worth using, its meaning should surely be precise.

Incidentally, a W-wing is also present: the (47)s in r2c7 and r4c1 are bridged by the conjugates with respect to 7 in column 8. This solves the puzzle.
