My first pass at this puzzle was a two step solution without the xyz-wing.

This sets up a kite9 with hinge in box2 that makes a deletion in r4c7. Then transport pincer r3c7 to r9c8 via r1c8 and pincer r4c4 to r5c3 via r4c1 to delete <9> from r9c3 and complete the puzzle.
