				| Great puzzle! Another BBDB VH. My seven steps included: | Quote: | | Skyscraper <2>, coloring <8>,
 skyscraper <5> with pincer transport,
 xy-wing <245> with pincer transport,
 ER <3>,
 Type 3 UR <37>,
 m-wing to delete <5> from r5c46.

				| Do people consider x-wings, and finned x-wings "the basics?" I'm inclined to include them, and possibly skyscrapers, in with the basics. I look for them while I'm looking for locked rows, single placement, etc.
Anyway, after 2 x-wings, 2 finned x-wings, and some other basics:

  	  | Quote: | | 357 xyz wing 245 xy wing
 345 xyz wing
48 remote pairs eliminating 8 from r3c5 and r6c1 to finish it off

Here's my unofficial rating system for the puzzles I post. I only post puzzles in the VH, VH+, and Advanced ratings. Because the presence of an XYZ-Wing in a VH puzzle is often overlooked, I now identify VH puzzles where an XYZ-Wing might be needed in the solution.

 ===== ===== ===== ===== ===== ===== ===== ===== ===== Ratings are Accumulative

Basics: Naked/Hidden Single, Naked Pair/Triple, Locked Candidate 1/2

 Basics+: Naked Quad, Hidden Pair/Triple/Quad

 VH: BUG+1, UR Type 1, X-Wing, XY-Wing, XYZ-Wing

VH+: 2-String Kite, Empty Rectangle, Remote Pair, Skyscraper, finned/Sashimi X-Wing, UR Type 2

 Advanced: M-Wing, W-Wing, XY-Chain, other URs

 Extreme: Chain

Note: Many user's use extended and transport to describe how they take one technique and use the pincers/end cells to create a short chain to perform an elimination. Many user's also use the term pseudo-cell.

These terms were new to me when I joined this forum. Their meaning is not documented in the Terminology sub-group, and I learned them by observing examples where they were used.

				| Agree with Ted. I took nine steps, including three ERs and an XY, two XYZs and two Ws. It was the third ER which opened up the 2nd W to finish it off.
