Keith,
I found a two stepper using only multi-coloring moves on 6.
the first one being a skyscraper
then second multi-coloring move is a long eight link chain on 6 |

The reason I liked this one was because of the many pairs, not for the endgame. It is low on the eraser scale!
However: After basics
Code: | +----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 5 16 18a | 2 7 36 | 4 136-8 9 |
| 46 3 9 | 8 46 1 | 5 2 7 |
| 7 2 148 | 9 5 346 | 36 1368 68 |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 1 4 5 | 7 369 69 | 8 36 2 |
| 3 8 6 | 1 24 24 | 7 9 5 |
| 9 7 2 | 5 36 8 | 36 4 1 |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 2 16 14b | 3 8 7 | 9 5 46 |
| 48c 5 3 | 6 29 29 | 1 7 48d |
| 68 9 7 | 4 1 5 | 2 68e 3 |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+ |
abc is a flightless XY-wing, pincers on <8>. With transport of c to d and e, eliminating <8> in R1C8. Leaving us here:
Code: | +----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 5 16c 8 | 2 7 36 | 4 13b 9 |
| 46 3 9 | 8 46 1 | 5 2 7 |
| 7 2 14 | 9 5 34 | 36 1368 68 |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 1 4 5 | 7 369 69 | 8 36a 2 |
| 3 8 6 | 1 24 24 | 7 9 5 |
| 9 7 2 | 5 36 8 | 36 4 1 |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 2 16d 14 | 3 8 7 | 9 5 46e |
| 48 5 3 | 6 29 29 | 1 7 48 |
| 68 9 7 | 4 1 5 | 2 -68 3 |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+ |
abc is a flightless XY-wing with pincers <6>. With transport of c to d and e, eliminating <6> from R9C8 and solving the puzzle.

Just for laughs, simple coloring takes out the 6 from r1c8, which eliminates the 6 from r3c6. Then a W-Wing on the 36s in boxes 26 are connected by three strong links on 6, taking out the 3 from r1c8, leaving a pair in row 1, which I don't know how far it can take us.
Code: |

| 46 3 9 | 8 46 1 | 5 2 7 |

if the 36 pair is false in column eight, then the 18 pair is true in row 1
Code: | .------------------.------------------.------------------.
| 5 *16 18 | 2 7 36 | 4 *1368 9 |
| 46 3 9 | 8 46 1 | 5 2 7 |

| 48 5 3 | 6 29 29 | 1 7 48 |
|*68 9 7 | 4 1 5 | 2 68 3 |
'------------------'------------------'------------------' |
(36)r14c8 = (18)r1c38 - (1=6)r1c2 - (6)r7c2 = (6)r9c1; r9c8 <> 6
either the pair 36 in col 8 is true or the 6 in r9c1 is true.
both force 6 out of r9c8 for a one stepper. |
