the UR {79}r37c89 says that neither the 2 in r7c9 or the 6 in r3c8 can both be false.

(7=2)r7c1 - UR79[(2)r7c9 = (6)r3c8] - (6)r1c7 = (6)r1c3 - (6)r2c2 = (6-9)r6c2 = (9)r9c2; r9c2 <> 7

I saw the Type 6 UR 79 and employed Norm's approach of using the implication of the UR to form a chain. The one step chain solution I found is:

UR79[(6)r3c8 = (2)r7c9] - (2=7)r7c1 - (7)r9c2 = (7)r2c2 - (7=6)r1c3; r1c7<>6.

Norm, I noticed that you used essentially the same cells for your chain, but in a totally different manner.

Ted

I've said, more or less, that, as have you.

From experience I say take the break.
