This took me ages to spot the xy-chain - went through all the bivalues twice before I saw it, even though I guessed what the pincer digit would be!

Quote:
xy-chain: (8=9)r4c3-(9=6)r4c1-(6=7)r3c1-(7=9)r7c1-(9=3)r7c4-(3=9)r9c5-(9=2)r3c5-(2=4)r2c5-(4=2)r2c7-(2=8)r5c7; r5c123<>8
Then colouring on 3s

There wasn't one move I could make other than the 38 UR which I didn't play. I tried loads of chains to no avail. Finally one I tried worked, although it didn't create pincers. It was if r5c1=8, then r5c7=8, an invalidity, thus r5c1 must be <>8.

Not wildly different from Dan or Peter with a slightly different xy chain, pincers in green eliminate the 8 in blue:

Then colouring (skyscraper) on 3s.
