I used a couple of XY-wings. Needed first to find a hidden triple.

As an alternative to the skyscraper(6) there is a simple colour trap on 6 which removes 1 from r2c1 and solves puzzle |

But, 1 is in r2c1 for the solution in this puzzle. If you remove 1 in r2c1 what will be the solution? |

He must mean remove 6 in R2C1.
I have shown a simple coloring chain that makes that elimination. Start in R7C1.

Draw/Play gives hint of '6' at r6c3.
Can one explain why?

There's probably something more common, but an m-wing handles it straight away.
(9=4)r6c4-(4)r9c4=(4-9)r7c5=(9)r7c3 =>r6c3<>9 |

Ema,
I am not sure why draw/play suggests that.
But, look for hidden pairs in C7 and in R7, and you should be on your way.
As I have said before, Sudoku Susser can explain the moves.

I used Clement's xy-wing.
Dan, glad to see that others sometimes have problems with basics, like I did a few days ago! |

Clement, sorry that should have been colouring on 6s removing a 6 from r2c1 (leaving only the 1). |
