"Couldn't" or "Didn't" ?
"Couldn't" might imply that you failed to understand Luke's one-stepper. |

I don't understand.
I don't know which of six possible chutes is chute 3
I don't see a single step move.
If I did I probably "could" solve the puzzle |

Aaaahh. My mistake!!!
I didn't catch that Luke used "chute" instead of "stack". You were correct to not understand his reference. |

A band is horizontal.
A stack is vertical.
A chute is how the garbage gets from the 6th floor to the dumpster.
(Both bands and stacks are chutes, apparently.) |

A chute is also somewhere I don't ski - they are dangerous. Being European I call them couloirs. |

I have heard the term "chute" used in referencing the stalls that cattle stand in while milking.
and I have heard it used as a way to describe the 15 foot barriers on either side of the highway in construction zones or along residential areas. |

What's the difference between a Bug-lite and a run-of-the-mill deadly pattern?
At any rate, I didn't notice it and used four steps.
X-Wing (6)
Fin transport (8)
Kite (2)
XY-Wing (186) |

Maybe the answer to that is all Bug-Lites are deadly patterns but all deadly patterns are not Bug-Lites.
I see your point, though, Marty. I beginning to think that it might be better to call things a "deadly pattern" rather than trying to affix one name or another. According to Sudopedia, there are thousands of deadly patterns. |
