My first four steps were the same as Ted's but I finished with a UR on 12. Looking at the implications of same, r9c4=1.
Peter, Ted, et al: why post moves with lots of cell details without an accompanying grid so people can try and follow along? |

I can supply a grid that could be used as a starting point, but I'm not prepared to include the link necessary to load it into this site's Sudoku program.

I don't use the sites Sudoku program and I can't transfer the grid + candidates into this format so my dreaded colour grids are all I can provide and I know that's not universally popular. |

Marty,
I include the details to allow others to analyze the steps if they are interested in learning how to perform certain steps. As I have mentioned before, I many times was frustrated trying to learn/understand new techniques because posts did not provide sufficient details.
I also understand your issue with having a grid available to support the details of a step. The problem becomes one of time and effort to prepare the post if a grid is included for each step, plus the size of a post would be significantly larger. At this time, I believe that those folks interested in analyzing a particular step may do so by performing every preceding step.
As an alternative, I would consider posting the grid for "unique/special" steps if you and others felt that would be useful.

I'll have a look at it Marty.
Being a visual type person, I personally find the use of colours much more explanatory than the Simple Sudoku text outputs with their acsii *,#,& greyish output.
I find Norm's diagrams are the best as they explain more (to me) pictorially and succinctly. I am slowly trying to get to grips with the package he uses but being a simple soul, I sometimes feel like the guy who has bought a washing machine loaded with hundreds of features he will never use. |
