Pour commencer.....cinque étapes....toutes différentes
Quote: | 1. UR[67] r7c4<>67
2.Finned X-Wing on 6s; r7c7<>6
3.XYZ Wing <367> vertex at r7c9; r7c8<>7
4.Colouring on 7s; r6c4<>7
5. XY-Wing <346> r56c6<>6 |

I thought I had all afternoon, so I just grabbed the first thing that came along. It was 10 steps of assorted stuff which I did not recheck for typos since I was just advised that I did not have all afternoon free.
Type 1 UR (59r57c12; rrc2<>59, which opens us a
6-cell ADP (789)r46c298; outside box implications are r4c7=8, r4c7=9 or r5c7=9

First time through my moves were almost identical to mm - I think I did the ER(6) before the UR move. Otherwise the same.
Ted, that's a great a la carte menu of moves...!
In the interests of making Sunday morning more complicated before retiring for a well earned lunch here's a truly ugly 2+ steps solution..
Almost xy-chain with a fin that causes a contradiction...
Code: | xy-chain fin (7)r6c8
r6c8<>7: (3=7)r9c6 - (7=6)r7c5 - (6=4)r8c6 - (4=8)r8c8 - (8=3)r6c8; r9c8<>3
r6c8=7 : (7)r6c8 - (7=3)r9c8 - (3)r9c6*=(3-4)r7c4=(4-7)r4c4=*(7)r6c4 - (7)r6c8
* r9c6<>3=7 creates (7)r4c4=r6c4 by eliminating (7) in r46c6 |
So that's really two steps. a forcing chain and an xy-chain - though I found it when exploring the xy-chain. (I admit a significant T&E mindset at this point!! Sometimes 'what if' is fun too...)
Still need the type 1 UR(67) r7c4=4 later.... |

Peter: While examining your first step, ...
Code: | (4)r4c6 - (4=6)r8c6 - (6=7)r7c5
(7)r6c46 = hp(47)r4c46 | | - r9c6 = (7)r9c8; r6c8<>7
(7)r4c6 .......................
|
... which exposes your XY-Chain.
(I realllllly need to get to bed and get some sleep!!!) |
