Quote: | I believe this puzzle is solved by two VH steps. x-wing then xy-wing.
but ignoring the conventional route i get this. |
but if you skip to the xy-wing and look for outs, I come up with this.
Code: | +------------------+--------------+---------------+
| 8 145 1345 | 13 2 16 | 7 9 6(5) |
| 6 9 5-1 | 4 7 8 | (15) 3 2 |
| (13) 7 2 | 5 39 169 | 18 4 68 |
+------------------+--------------+---------------+
| 5 3 9 | 2 1 4 | 6 8 7 |
| 7 2 8 | 6 59 59 | 3 1 4 |
| 14 14 6 | 7 8 3 | 2 5 9 |
+------------------+--------------+---------------+
| 2 145 (145) | 38 345 7 | 9 6 8(5) |
| (34) 8 345 | 9 6 2 | 45 7 1 |
| 9 6 7 | 18 45 15 | 458 2 3 |
+------------------+--------------+---------------+ |
if the xy-wing {1,3,4} r3c1, r8c1, r7c3... is false, then the 5 in r7c3 is true... (5)r7c3 - (5)r7c9 = (5)r1c9 - (5=1)r2c7
or if the xy-wing is true then the 1 in r2c3 is eliminated.
either way, the 1 in r2c3 is toast.
