Flightless AW-wing (19)r2c4|r6c3, SL (9)r26c5 with fin (58)r6c3; r8c4=2
If w-wing is true plus transport: (1)r6c3-r78c3=(1)r8c2;r8c4<>1=2
If fin is true: LS(1458)r2369-(18=2)r8c3-r8c6=(2)r8c4

(Note: LS is for a Locked Set)

Initially found an m-wing(27) and then stumbled on a more efficient route .. two steps.

Ted, I assume you mean r7c4 not r8c4? Also I can't get your transport to work as I have a pile of 1s in b7? I also needed another step after this same elimination.

Reviewing further I see playing the UR(34) reveals the w-wing in an altogether straightforward manner and your transport works to crack the puzzle. Exclamation

Four steps but lots of fun.

Type 3 UR (34) with 1578 pseudo cell
XY-Wing (127)
DP 16-36-13, boxes 369, r2c8=4
Take your choice, BUG+1 or various XY-Chains

Peter,

This is a real mess Exclamation Embarassed Embarassed

My posted solution does not work, period!. I woke up early this morning around 4:30 and started working on this puzzle before coffee. I enter my steos into Notepad and do not keep a copy, so I don't know everything I did but I do remember finding the UR(34) plus a couple of other moves. I suspect I got confused with the UR (34) since the two parts of my post are incompatible: the wing transport is only valid after the UR(34), but after the UR(34, the w-wing does not have a fin.

I am sorry for all the chaos and promise to not post a puzzle at 4:30 unless I have had a cup of coffee.

And in addition, I really liked finding that quad move but to no avail........
