What? No comments on a 'VH' by 11.50 GMT? (Couple of the old favourite XYs did it for me.....anyone find a one stepper?) |

Don't know if I made a mistake but a 346 XY after only 8 entries seemed to do it for me |

.
Basic steps brings one here:
Code: |
+------------+------------------+---------+
| 34 23 248 | 29 2389 6 | 5 7 1 |
| 1 9 28 | 25 258 7 | 6 4 3 |
| 5 6 7 | 4 13 13 | 2 8 9 |
+------------+------------------+---------+
| 7 23 1 | 2359 2359 239* | 8 6 4 |
| 349 8 24 | 6 12349 12349 | 19 5 7 |
| 49 5 6 | 7 149 8 | 3 19 2 |
+------------+------------------+---------+
| 6 7 9 | 23 234 5 | 14 12 8 |
| 2 1 5 | 8 7 49 | 49 3 6 |
| 8 4 3 | 1 6 29 | 7 29 5 |
+------------+------------------+---------+
|
The subtle beauty of this game is found in this situation.
The '9' must be in r8c6 or r9c6, meaning '9' is not in r4c6 and r4c6 is '2' or '3'.
The '2' and '3' fall from r4c4 and leaves the only '3' in column 4 at r7c4.

After the 346 xy-wing I also needed the 124 xy-wing making r6c8<>1 to solve. |

I wasn't able to dance the one-step. An XY-Wing of either 364 or 346 followed by a Wing of 49, flightless with ponder transport.
Ema, what you described with the 9s in box 8 is commonly known as Locked Candidates or Box-Line Interactions. |

Thank you Marty. I am sorry to say, I am a visual learner. When I beat my head doing SuDoKu, I have trouble following all the buzz words. So I try to explain my actions by pointing to the puzzle.
