Nice puzzle! I definitely needed an "extreme" move - plus others - but not so extreme that it needed the "unreasonable" kraken aaic/aals arsenal!
Quote: | skyscraper(1) r4, r8 ; r5c6<>1, r9c5<>1
m-wing-like(35) ; (529=3)r78c9|r9c8 - (3)r9c6=(3-5)r3c6=r2c6 ; r2c9<>5
skyscraper(2) r1, r8 ; r23c1<>2, r79c2<>2
w-wing(14) (4=1)r5c2 - r5c3=r8c3 - (1=4)r8c6 ; r5c6<>4 |

7 steps with no extreme moves:
[1] SS r48; r5c6|r9c5<>1
[2] FXW r19; r8c6<>9
[3] FSF r257; r46c3<>1
[4] Sashimi XW c58; r1c6<>4
[5] 239XYW; r1c8<>2
[6] Sashimi SF r158; r79c2<>2
[7] 14WW r5c2|c3|r8c6; r5c6<>4 |

Here is another seven step solution except I used a heavier hammer for the last move.
Flightless skyscraper (1)r3c48: (1)r6c8=(1)r3c8-r3c4=r9c4-r9c2=(1)r8c3; r6c3<>1
skyscraper (1)r48c3 plus transport: (1)r4c5=(1)r4c3-r8c3=r8c6; r5c6<>1
After cleanup transport the skyscraper pincer: (1)r8c6-r23c6=r3c4-r3c8=r2c9-r56c9=(1)r6c8; r6c5<>1
ER(4) b5 SLr16c8; r1c6<>4
Finned x-wing (9)r19c26; r8c6<>9
xy-wing-239 vertex (39)r9c6; r1c8<>2 plus transport (2)r1c6-r5c6=r6c5; r6c8<>2
ANP(24=1)b8q16-r8c3=r5c3-(1=4)r5c2-(4=2)r5c6-(2=9)r1c6-(9=3)r9c6-(3=2)r9c8; r9c4<>2

My solver used a number of steps. Some were extraneous. The L-Wing opened up the solution.
Code: | r48c3 Skyscraper <> 1 r9c5,r5c6
-plus-
r19\c26 finned X-Wing <> 9 r8c6 extraneous
L-Wing: (3)r3c6 = r3c5 - r7c5 = (3-5)r7c8 = (5)r3c8 => r3c6<>5
r18c6 Skyscraper <> 2 r23c1,r79c2
r8 b5 turbot fish/ER <> 4 r6c3
<49+2> XYZ-Wing r2c5/r1c6+r6c5 <> 2 r3c5 extraneous
M-Wing 5A: (4=1)r5c2 - r5c3 = (1-4)r8c3 = (4)r8c6 => r5c6<>4
M-Wing 5B: (4=1)r5c2 - r9c2 = (1-4)r8c3 = (4)r8c6 => r5c6<>4
-or-
W-Wing: (4=1)r5c2 - r9c2 = r9c4 - (1=4)r8c6 => r5c6<>4
W-Wing: (4=1)r5c2 - r5c3 = r8c3 - (1=4)r8c6 => r5c6<>4
W-Wing: (4=1)r5c2 - r9c2 = r8c3 - (1=4)r8c6 => r5c6<>4
-or-
XY-Chain: (8=2)r5c9 =4r5c6 =1r8c6 =4r8c3 =9r7c3 =8r6c3 => r5c3,r6c9<>8
