A standard pattern with a twist.....
Quote: | w-wing (79)r4c5|r5c1 with SL(9)r9c158; r5c4<>7
(9)r9c1-(9=7)r5c1;
||
(9)r9c5-(9=7)r4c5;
||
(9)r9c8-r46c8=r4c9-(9=7)r4c5;
I believe that this pattern could also be viewed as a Kraken row.

Other than a couple of non-productive moves, I couldn't do anything with this except Medusa, and a couple of traps did the job. |

Marty,
FYI: here's my solver's solution. I don't think it will interfere with anyone else submitting a solution.
Code: | after basics
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------+
| 4 7 23 | 9 13 123 | 6 5 8 |
| 8 9 1 | 5 6 7 | 3 4 2 |
| 23 6 5 | 4 38 238 | 9 1 7 |
|-----------------------+-----------------------+-----------------------|
| 5 1 789 | 3 79 4 | 278 2689 69 |
| 79 4 6 | 78 2 89 | 1 3 5 |
| 379 2 3789 | 1 5 6 | 78 89 4 |
|-----------------------+-----------------------+-----------------------|
| 6 5 279 | 278 13789 1389 | 4 289 39 |
| 1 8 29 | 26 4 39 | 5 7 369 |
| 279 3 4 | 2678 789 5 | 28 2689 1 |

A 5-cell XY-Chain falls into the "Difficult" category. The turbot fish needed to set it up made the puzzle extra difficult.

Thanks Danny. I don't see a Turbot fish/ER, but was able to eliminate 7 from r7c4 via Finned X-Wing in rows 59. I also saw the XY- and XYZ-Wings. Of course, missing an XY-Chain is as easy as falling off a log. |

I've generated a new batch of puzzles to use once my current cache is empty. Also, starting with my next postings, I plan to return to using my rating system. Hopefully, this'll again help in dealing with my puzzles.
