Here is a Vanhagen Extreme puzzle that I found interesting. Specifically, I found two one step solutions involving totally different techniques but both resulted in essentially identical deletion.

Code:

+-------+-------+-------+
| 7 . . | . . . | . . 2 |
| . . 5 | . 7 . | 9 . . |
| . 4 8 | . 2 . | 1 7 . |
+-------+-------+-------+
| . 8 2 | 4 1 7 | 5 3 . |
| 4 3 . | . . . | . 1 8 |
| . 7 1 | 9 8 3 | 2 4 . |
+-------+-------+-------+
| . 2 4 | . 9 . | 6 5 . |
| . . 7 | . 4 . | 3 . . |
| 1 . . | . . . | . . 4 |
+-------+-------+-------+

Potential DP 16-18-68 in r1. Either r1c4=35 (pseudo cell) or r1c2=9. There were several common outcomes which solved the puzzle.

Same type of solution with the DP 56 in boxes 58, but that's not the different technique you refer to.

Ted, I'd be interested in your solutions since I couldn't find a thing other than what I posted.

Marty,

I first found the BUG-Lite+2(168)r12c248 which made r3c6=9

Then I found an Almost Sue de Coq.(13568)c4b2 with ab=(18)r7c4 & cd=(35)r1c5 & e=(6)r3c4 plus fin (3)r7c4

SdQ(13568)c4b2=(3)r7c4-r7c1=(3-9)r3c1=r3c9; r3c6<>6=9

I remember that you do not like "almost" patterns but I find then fun and very useful.
