Can you post the grid where you're stuck at? I tried it and got to a point where there was a 123 triple in column 5, thus precluding other 1s in that column. |

I don't know how to post a grid, but in col 5 I have
12
7
239
6
13
8
19
5
4
Does that help you?
Thank you Marty! |

I aligned the grid.
Code: | +------------+---------------+---------------+
| 9 12 7 | 5 12 6 | 8 4 3 |
| 5 138 4 | 138 7 189 | 2 6 19 |

+------------+---------------+---------------+
| 2 17 5 | 9 6 4 | 17 3 8 |
| 8 179 6 | 123 123 5 | 4 179 1279 |
| 3 4 19 | 128 128 7 | 6 159 1259 |
+------------+---------------+---------------+
| 4 5 89 | 6 189 2 | 3 1789 179 |
| 7 6 3 | 18 5 189 | 19 2 4 |
| 1 89 2 | 7 4 3 | 5 89 6 |
+------------+---------------+---------------+ |
I assume you're familiar with Locked Candidates. Let's remove the 8 from r7c5 because the only 8s in row 8 are in that box. Let's remove the 2s from rows 56 column 5 because the only 2s in column 4 are in that box. Now look at row 3. There is a quintuple, 15789, so those numbers are removed from the other cells in that row. After doing those moves I think you'll see why the hint is what it is. Good luck and don't hesitate if you have further questions.
