All,
Marty has been hospitalized with a stroke. He lives in Rochester, NY, USA. He tells me he his doctors say he is doing "well".
I have done my best to delete the recent spam messages.
The site is owned by Sam Griffiths-Jones. He has done nothing with it for years. Marty and I have administrator rights for the Forums, but Marty and I have no technical control over the rest of the site.
We have no power to make software corrections or update the site phpbb software.
It is sad. This is one of two remaining Sudoku forums remaining on the web that I am aware of. I will try to contact Sam to see if anything constructive can be done.
Otherwise, all I can do is encourage you all to copy the site.
I am in Michigan, USA. I have had the pleasure to meet Marty a few times. We share the tragedy of his Buffalo Bills and my Detroit Lions football teams.
Best wishes,
Keith |

I am so sorry to hear of Marty's illness and wish him all the best for his recovery.
Thanks so much, Keith, for cleaning up the spam and in attempting to contact the site owner. I'm a bit addicted to this site as the online solving tool is the easiest and most intuitive I've found and the forum has been so helpful in learning and seeing different solving techniques in action. I hope to see it continue, but want to thank those who've contributed whatever the outcome. |

Thanks for letting us know Keith. And pass my personal best wishes to
Marty for a complete recovery- in fact I hope he will read this message.
The site misses his unfailing courtesy and helpfulness.
From Sam's c.v. (resume) it doesn't look as though he's likely to have
time to fix the problems himself (and his photo on the University Website
suggests he won't be retiring too soon!). But maybe there's a sudoku freak out
there who would have the skills to take over the maintenance of the
software and someone could persuade Sam to make the necessary transfers.....

I signed up today (though I've appreciated the forum for years) to send my good thoughts for a speedy recovery to Marty. Thanks for all you do, and we hope to see you around soon!

I do not write often; but follow this site closely; not just because of the Sudokus, but especially because of Marty & Keith. I feel like they are old friends since we joined about the same time in 2005. I will definitely keep Marty in my thoughts & prayers.

I'm new to this message board. I joined recently because of the website problems. I've only recently discovered this website and would miss it terribly, should it close. It gives me enough challenge, as well as "hints" to help me work through the most difficult puzzles.
I want to add my "Get Well Soon" wishes to Marty and to thank you, Keith, for all your hard work while Marty is in recovery.
With hopes for the future ...
Kind regards,
California Deb |
