I think you got it right, but as you say, with some unusual terminology, and it appears a mistake in the column number.
How about:
xy wing 17-3 at r1c1 which gives
r45c3 <> 3
which leads to the solution
I have been away for some time, and I was happy to find the web site worked well on my return.
Does anyone know how Marty is doing. I'd sure like to see him back. I miss his good and gentle comments.

Thanks for the reply. Right now, I get xyz v xy as determined by the number of interacting digits in the pivot, time will tell if that definition sticks. And I did typo the affected number.
This was my first posted solve. As it came well into the next morning, I did have a sense of trepidation in lieu of the recent malfunction. I echo the sentiment with respect to Marty and all the rest of the dailysudoku.com community.
