Wow, great puzzle Mogulmeister. EXTREME! Will be interested to see what folks come up with for one step solutions. I couldn't do it. Saw multiple ALS scenarios, among other things, though. Challenging puzzle to be sure.

cheers...immp

This one was too tough for me! I couldn't even find the possibility of a single step solution! I did see some back door solutions but of course they're no help when you're trying to solve it properly.

This was Ted’s solve in his own words:

“I had another three step solution then reduced it to two steps

xy-wing (79-8)r1c72+r3c8; r1c9,r3c12<>8

AUR(47)r34c12 SIS r3c1=6, r4c12=8
(9=6)r3c5-AUR (47)r34c12[(6)r3c1=(8)r4c12]-r4c8=(8-9)r3c8=r1c7; r1c6,r3c8<>9

(4)r9c1=(4)r9c9-r7c9=r7c5-r6c5=r6c3; r8c3<>4

Note that xy-wing is not necessary:
AUR(47)r34c12 SIS r3c1=6, r34c12=8; r1c6,r3c8<>9
(6)r3c1-(6=9)r3c5
||
(8)r3c12-(8=7=9)r1c27
||
(8)r4c12-r4c8=(8-9)r3c8=r1c7 “

Eureka note - here Ted has used (9) single number in brackets to indicate “is 9”. It is used also to indicate “not 9” at the start of some Eureka chains.
