Just an observation, but a=1 to solve
Code: |
+-----------+----------------+-------------+
| 5 68 2 | 17 3 9 | 4 178 167 |
| 1 36 4 | 27 5 278 | 9 78 36 |
| 9 b38 7 | 6 a18 4 | 5 2 c13 |
+-----------+----------------+-------------+
| 4 279 5 | 3 29 27 | 1 6 8 |
| 3 79 1 | 8 6 5 | 2 79 4 |
| 6 279 8 | 2479 249 1 | 37 379 5 |
+-----------+----------------+-------------+
| 27 4 6 | 129 129 3 | 8 5 x17 |
| 78 5 9 | e14 e148 6 | 37 137 2 |
| 28 1 3 | 5 7 28 | 6 4 9 |
+-----------+----------------+-------------+
If a=8, c=1 gives x=7
If a=8, e=14 then x=1
|
The <148> XYZ in aee drew my eye to this contradiction |

I don't think the 148 XYZ Wing solves the puzzle Earl but the 178 XYZ Wing looks like it does. |

Correct, the XYZ 148 doesn't solve it straight away, you would need another step
You could look at my contradiction as a chain :
If a=8, e=14, x=1, c=3, b=8, a=1 so a is not 8 and must be 1 |
